Greg Ferris – My Journey to Fiji with Travel Teacher
Embarking on an expedition to Fiji with Travel Teacher has been one of my biggest life learning experiences to date. From the start of the expedition, Travel Teacher provided personal, deep, meaningful travel to immerse the group of volunteers into the education, the everyday life and culture of the Fijians who live in Namatakula Village.
Namatakula is one of the most welcoming and friendliest communities I have ever met on my travels around the world. The Fiji expedition organised by Travel Teacher has opened my eyes to a new culture that has allowed me to reflect on my personal and professional life. This experience has positively changed me and allowed me to grow as a person, in which I will be forever grateful. Travel Teacher’s vision and philosophy of personal, deep, meaningful travel to serve and explore is present throughout the expedition.
There has the right balance of cultural immersion as well as the exploration of the hidden treasures of the Fijian islands. Most importantly, it has the right number of volunteers within a group that allow you to feel fully immersed into the experience. Because of the right number of volunteers within a group, we became a close family and I am blessed to have met each and every one of them. Without realising, Travel Teacher expeditions nurtures and enhances lifelong skills that are easily transferable to
employment such as: leadership, interpersonal skills, communication, creativity, problem solving as well as developing emotional intelligence.
I am looking forward to the next expeditions that I complete with Travel Teacher.
Vinaka Travel Teacher!
