Fiji volunteers gain accredited teaching qualification with Travel Teacher

Fiji Volunteers Complete Teacher Training.

June 2016, a group of pioneering volunteers join us for their pre departure training workshop at Southampton Solent University, prior to embarking on a volunteering experience in Fiji with Travel Teacher.

The group were from a variety of backgrounds, from students to professionals. All individuals shared a common motive and that was to embark on a journey with us which would see them develop both personally and professionally whilst making an impact at our partnered school in Fiji.

We are delighted to announce that we have our first batch of completer's who have been signed off by our partners YMCA awards and have completed their level 3 Award in Education and Training.  The qualification provides an introduction to teaching learning and assessment and supports those who have no experience in teaching as well as providing those who have experience in education with a opportunity to receive further feedback on their practice.

Aaron Daas, Courtney Fynan and Chanice Askham have all completed their teacher training following some reflective practice after their experience out in the field, applying their knowledge in a teaching role at Ratu Filise Memorial School.  All three really developed as individuals and displayed excellent intercultural skills whilst making an impact on the development of the young children's education.

Volunteer Preparation

Travel Teachers pre departure training includes both technical and personal preparation - this allows our volunteers to feel both confident and competent whilst operating in the field on their chosen project.  Our training is conducted by expert practitioners who have both international and domestic teaching experience as well as being experts in the field.  Watch the clip below for an insight into the content covered during our training.

We are already looking ahead to our forthcoming training workshop at Wembley Stadium in London on the 10th April where our 2017 cohort will begin their training ahead of their life changing experience with us.

Limited space are still available for our summer projects, visit our website for more information
