There are so many reasons why you should undertake a meaningful travel experience, just in case you need another we thought we would introduce you to our top health benefits associated with travel and exploration.  Meaningful travel has so many benefits both physically and mentally, it naturally promotes a sense of well-being and is also great exercise!

Recent studies have shown that travel helps prevent depression, dementia and Alzheimers disease, especially for those who have retired.  Other associated diseases that travel can help prevent include; CHD and heart attacks.  Not convinced? Meaningful travel makes you happy!

I mean who isn't happy when the opportunity presents itself to go travelling right? The though of jumping on a plane and heading off to new surroundings, the excitement, the intrigue. This allows you to switch off from everyday life and forget about your stressors which maybe present at home.  People that travel feel more content with their lives and are able to feel a sense of purpose each day knowing that they have something to look forward to in the future - the next trip that is!

Healthy way of living

Your diet and physical activity levels are key factors in our overall health.  When travelling to a different country and sampling new cultures you maybe encouraged to embrace a new way of living, also we all enjoy a good walk whilst we are on a vacation right? 

Here comes the exercise part. A meaningful travel experience like an Impact Expedition with Travel Teacher you will have the opportunity to get involved in a number of activities each day, you will be exercising the mind and body regularly - mostly by stealth, you wont even know that you are doing it, you will be having so much fun!  All of this will have a positive impact on your health.

Exercising the brain

Travelling helps stimulate the mind, it provides you with a sense of focus and challenges your memory - we all think back to positive times we've had whilst travelling right? This is exercise for the brain!  You will also develop the way you think, you may have to communicate with somebody who doesn't speak the same language - this is very likely, you may also be stretched into seeking directions or even reading a map.  All of this will improve your mental focus.

Sense of fulfilment

Meaningful travel provides you with a sense of fulfilment.  Volunteering abroad will draw upon your transferable skills and will allow you to make an impact on individuals or a community. You will pick up a sense of purpose and importance by helping somebody in need.
