Volunteer Abroad: 5 Reasons to love Fiji
Expect a warm welcome when volunteering abroad in Fiji
An island blessed with 333 tropical islands in the heart of the South Pacific. Fiji is the perfect place to volunteer abroad. Fiji is famous for its white sandy beaches and pristine natural environment and is also known as one of the happiest countries in the world.
Here are 5 reasons to love the island of Fiji:
What makes Fiji truly exceptional place to visit and volunteer abroad is the people. Fiji has a very tight knit society made up of small village communities who are always ready to bombard visitors with a big BULA!! The people of Fiji are always ready to make you feel welcome and part of their neighbourhood. The community atmosphere is something really special and can only be realised once you have experienced it. The bond between members of the community is palpable, perhaps this is what makes Fiji one of the safest countries to visit in the world.
The expression 'Fiji time' is very simple, the people of Fiji believe that live is to be enjoyed and not rushed. If you are used to the hustle and bustle of the western world, things are very different in Fiji. The concept of not rushing and living life how it is meant to be live at a relaxed pace is refreshing, when volunteering abroad in Fiji you will get a feel of this whilst you let the stress of the modern world evaporate.
Fiji has some of the best food in the whole of the south pacific. It is very expensive for locals to import food which means much of the produce is local, fresh and organic. The island has Indian, South East Asian and Chinese influences making the food very dynamic and tasteful. As a volunteer with us you will be introduced to all of the local delicacies, and you will not be disappointed.
Fiji is forever full of feel good colours; white waterfalls, green landscapes, bright orange mangos and turquoise blue sea. Everywhere you turn in Fiji there is something colourful to make you smile.
Life in Fiji, particularly for the locals usually revolves around church, village life, the rugby field and the beach. The reality of local life however is less sunny than the blue skies. Many areas of Fiji are very rural and are home to poor communities. As a volunteer with Travel Teacher you will be playing a key role in the development of the community, ensuring that future generations have access to brighter futures.
