Volunteer Abroad | Pre Departure Preparation

We pride ourselves on delivering the best possible quality training and preparation to allow our volunteers to feel confident when participating in global engagement through volunteering abroad in the South Pacific.  Our high quality, supportive pre departure preparation aims to maximize the personal learning and development experiences of our volunteers during their journey with us.

As part of our pre departure process, Travel Teacher volunteers will be invited to attend a welcome meeting to enhance their own knowledge on our principles, practices and operational ethos, as well as finding out more about their own time abroad. Participants will get the opportunity to meet other members of their traveling group and begin to feel a part of our community.

Support and mentoring

You will be assigned a Travel Teacher mentor who will work with you in your pre departure class room.  Our mentors draw upon their academic and professional expertise to provide you with guidance and support from the moment you enrol, continuing when you arrive back home.

Online classroom

Prior to departure our volunteers will be invited to enrol in our online VLE (virtual learning environment).  By accessing this platform our volunteers will be introduced to valuable resources and materials to begin exploring their role in creating impact and the benefits to themselves and wider society.

The training provided me with confidence before my experience, it also allowed me to meet my group which was a big help. I felt supported every step of the way.

Upon application with us you will also receive a set of joining instructions (adapted for each country), we require you to digest this pre reading material prior to your induction.  Check out the role and responsibilities of a volunteer.
